One of the famous dish in Banyuwangi. This dish contains rice with a choice of side dish such as, omelet, chicken, fish, squid, crispy fried shrimp (my favourite), with steamed mix vegetable, and a FAMOUS SAMBAL TEMPONG. I just try the sambal a bit bcos it's too spicy for me. But everything is good.. You should come here while in Banyuwangi.

A nice place to eat 'sego tempong' or 'face slap rice' usually sego tempong is served at a warung but not this one, it has quite a clean room to eat even though no AC. The food is also still as great and the sambal tempong is also as spicy... The price is also still very affordable..

Local taste, kinda spicy with lot of option, portion of food is something, you got to take 2 of each kind.

This veggies are very good and fresh, mixed with very nice and hot chili. The squid is very delicious and soft. And the place is very nice with traditional touch. You have to visit the kitchen, because it’s still has the traditional stove called ‘Tungku’.

One of the best food that I ate in my entire life. Sego tempong actually a traditional indonesian style of food serving where you can pick variates of food like warteg. And the tempong itself is actually some kind of sambal, uniquely from Banyuwangi. Anyway, I had fried shrimp, fried lungs, squids and of course the sambal tempong. First about the food, specifically about the squid that is cooked with its ink. It's so tender, not rubbery. The fried shrimp and lungs also deliciousAnd about the sambal tempong. It's raw sambal, meaning they didn't cook it (to keep the freshness) and it's so delicious and so spicy. If you think you can handle spicy food, think again, because this sambal tempong is on another levelBecause this warung is so full, you can't stay here for a long timeDefinitely a must try when you're in Banyuwangi

BEST SAMBAL!I came here with a tummy full of food already. But when I tried Mbok Wah's sambal, I ate again. IT WAS SO SO SO VERY VERY GOOD!The Botok Tawon is a very unique dish too. Not a fan of the "bee house", but a huge fan of the soup. The spices was spot on awesome!

If you're interested with the spiciness of the Sego Tempong/Nasi Tempong, you can get here.Sego Tempong is consist of two words in Bahasa Osing (Banyuwangi indigenous language), Sego means rice (or Nasi in Bahasa) and Tempong means slapped. It has name like that, because after eat this cuisine, you'll feel like you're slapped because the spiciness.In Mbok Wah, there's basic Sego Tempong which is consist of rice, vegetable (usually spinach or watercress, and raw cucumber), fried tofu, dry fish, and poured by very hot sambal. You can added additional side dish like sea fish, catfish, typical fried chicken, quail's egg satay, shrimp satay, river crab, cow/goat lung, black chicken egg (called Telur Cit, it's black because sweet soysauce and vinegar), squid (very recommended) and etc. You can also find Pindang Koyong (traditional Banyuwangi dish, with fish dipped in to yellow sauce and it taste freshly sour.

Best nasi tempong around. Affordable and fast service. But small road, makes it hard for big cars to come here.

It's good. The location is on a narrow alley. I am sure i won't be able to find it because my google maps won't work as it is hard to find signal here 😂 but the foods is marvelously delicious. Unbelievably love the tempong although they mixed it with shrimp paste but it's not smelly.
